OCTOBER
Saturday, October 4: CEDH Dual Land Tournament
The monthly series continues, the TGP Classic, a high-power high-stakes CEDH battle to the bitter end with the winner taking home a Dual Land. $30 entry per player, prize(s) aligning with attendance.

Saturday, October 4: TGP Comedy Showcase
Each month, the TGP stage is taken over by some of the finest and funniest folk this side of the Eno River. Come on down and see what all the fuss is about, live a little, laugh a lot, love as much as you are capable of. See you there, friends!
Saturday, October 11: MTG Commander League X: Tournament One
Commander League X has its first formal showdown on Saturday, October 11. Commander League players, entry into each tournament is included in your price of entry to League. All you’ve gotta do is show up, throw down, and revel in the prizes and glory awaiting you at the TGP tables!
Saturday, October 11: MTG Modern Cash Tournament
One of MTG’s most-played 60-card formats, Modern is a format with big plays, high power and significant strategies played across years of Magic’s history. This cash tournament is $30 entry per player, prizing scales with attendance.
Thursday, October 16: TGP Monthly Mini Paint Night
On the third Thursday of each month, The Gathering Place opens up a little space at the bar for folks to sit down and paint some little guys! Whether you’re painting for fun or putting a dent in your gray pile of shame, we’ve got a selection of paints you’d be welcome to borrow for just two bucks and some friendly folks on hand happy to provide some painting tips if this is your first foray into painting miniatures!
Sunday, October 19: Warhammer 40k Kill Team Monthly Meetup
Once a month, TGP hosts a meetup for local 40k Kill Team players. It’s fun, casual, laid back and a great opportunity to kick it and play your favorite grimdark tactical wargame with your favorite hand-painted little dudes. Come out and venture into the far-flung future with friends!
Sunday, October 19: Digimon BT-23 Hacker’s Slumber Prerelease Event
Did you know that Digimon are digital monsters? Did you know that Digimon are the champions? Change, into digital champions. To, save the, digital, world. Digimon. Digital monsters. Digimon are the champions.
Sunday, October 19: One Piece “Set Sail” Learn to Play Event
One Piece has proven time and again it’s a hit in the TGP community, and the “Set Sail” event is an opportunity to bring new players into the fold. If you know anyone who’s a little One Piece curious, if you want to reintroduce yourself, play a brand-new archetype, “Set Sail” might just be the place to do it.

Sunday, October 26: JANK BANK 5: THE HUFFENING
Jank Bank 5: The Huffening is taking Jank in a whole new direction. This time, it’s all about the Sharpie action! Click here for the rules, and we’ll see you in October for the weirdest and wildest Jank Bank tournament yet!
Sign-up is in-person at TGP, it’s $50 per player, and includes entry to the event, a brand-new bespoke playmat from our gracious host and access to one of the best prize pools in Jank Bank history. See you there!
Spider-Trivia at TGP This Friday!

This week, TGP Friday Night Trivia is a special Spider-Man edition!
If you remember the special trivia event we ran in celebration of Final Fantasy, this’ll be pretty similar. A slightly later start, trivia begins at 10:30, and Spider-Prizes to match the questions.
Instead of four rounds, it’ll be one single round of 20 questions. Prizes include a Scene Bundle from the MTG Spider-Set, regular ol’ packs of Spider-Man, Spider-Man comics, it’s gonna be a good time. If you love trivia, if you love Spider-Man, if you love prizes — Friday night TGP Spider-Trivia is the place to be!
Commander League X

The TGP Commander League. Transcending history, and the world, a tale of ink and cardboard, eternally retold.
Through eight full seasons and two shorter sessions, Commander League has become the signature event of The Gathering Place. As summer ends and fall approaches, it’s time for…
The elevator pitch of Commander League is this: each player starts with a precon Commander deck of their choosing. Throughout League’s entire season, that deck does not leave TGP. Each week, each player is permitted to open three booster packs of their choice, adding to the collective League card pool.
The only cards permitted for League play are the ones pulled in League. Trading is actively encouraged, League is a social experience first and foremost!

Over the weeks, players fine tune and improve their decks, culminating in the League tournaments, and the Finale where the League Champion is crowned.
League entry is $30 + the price of your chosen preconstructed MTG deck. The Gathering Place has a whole lot of precons in stock, so there’s a wide variety of potential options to choose from.
That additional $30 gets you Chaos Packs to start, a pack of sleeves, a deck box, and entry into all subsequent prized tournaments + League events. There will be three Commander League X tournaments, prizes and raffles at all of them.
Here’s the dates for Commander League X:
- Commander League X Kickoff, Tuesday, 9/16 @ 7:00 p.m.
- First Tournament, Saturday, 10/11 @ 12:00 p.m.
- Second Tournament, Sunday, 11/9 @ 12:00 p.m.
- FINALE TOURNAMENT, Saturday, 12/20 @ 12:00 p.m.
This League, we’ll be tracking each player’s tournament performance and using that information to inform standings and seeds. Weekly meetup play will not be affected, but we will encourage frequent crossover through random podding of players.
In addition to raffles during each Commander League tournament, TGP will award additional prizes: People’s Champ and Laboratory Maniac – these awards will be decided based on community vote!
- People’s Champ is self-explanatory: who was your favorite player to play against? Who was the coolest, the most pleasant, the most helpful, who made League fun and kept the good vibes going?
- Laboratory Maniac is a prize devoted to the most creative / most interesting decks! Cast your ballots for the decks that made you take a second and go “wait, what?”

MTG Spider-Man at The Gathering Place

Spider-Man’s MTG outing is almost here, and The Gathering Place is your friendly neighborhood game shop and place to get started web-slinging across another corner of the multiverse.
TGP is holding prerelease events all weekend, entry is $35 per player. Typical prerelease structure, three Swiss rounds, 1 pack per win. Entrants will all recieve a Spider-Man prerelease kit, containing the following:
- 6 Marvel’s Spider-Man Play Boosters
- 1 Traditional Foil Rare/Mythic with a year stamp
- Spindown life counter
Here’s the days/times:
- Fri 9/19: 2:30 + 7:00
- Sat, 9/20: 12:00 + 4:00
- Sun, 9/21: 12:00 (Two-Headed Giant)
Players can preregister for the prerelease events on TGP’s online store.
We’ll also have as much Spider-Man sealed product for sale as we can, per-customer limitations will most likely be in effect, and product will be sold first-come, first served. Customers who preordered Spider-Man product will be able to pick up their orders on Friday.

Tonight’s FNM Draft is FINAL FANTASY Instead of EOE
The player interest, success and sales of Edge of Eternities has outpaced expectations so much The Gathering Place is unable to hold an EOE draft this evening for FNM with adequate support for players and prizing.
Luckily, we just got a case of Final Fantasy boosters delivered!
Originally intended for future drafts and events, we’re cracking the case and running a Final Fantasy Draft for this evening’s FNM event! We hope to see you there, and we’ll see if we can’t get our hands on some more EOE in the meantime.
New Regular Events at TGP! Gundam + 40k!
Starting this month, we’re adding some new recurring events to the Gathering Place calendar!
The Gathering Place is adding Gundam TCG locals to its roster! Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. come on down to everyone’s favorite card shop and 30-tap bar for games of Bandai’s new hotness.
If you’re looking to pick up a starter deck, we’ve still got all four flavors in stock, running at $20 apiece!
Official Bandai events begin on 8/20, along with all the perks that brings. So we’ll see you before then for some friendly games, and every Wednesday after for some high-flying Mobile Suit action!

40K!
TGP is hosting its first formal Warhammer 40k Kill Team meetup this Sunday!
We had that special one-off tournament a while back, we’ve had some folks coming in casual-style to play some games, and we’re excited to make it a monthly feature for real. We’ll be setting space aside for 40k this Sunday, games start at 1:00, so we’ll see you there when things get grimdark and tactical at TGP! This will be a monthly recurring meetup, and we’re excited to finally get it going in the shop!

TGP Dispatch: 8/5/25
This week at The Gathering Place, the month of August formally begins and we’re kicking off another section of summer at your favorite neighborhood game shop + 30-tap bar!
Specifically, this upcoming Saturday, we’re hosting the usual Cash Tournament. It rotates in format between Modern, Legacy and Vintage. This month? It’s Legacy! $30 entry, entry in the prize pool, 15 proxies per deck permitted, and all proxies must be clearly representative of the intended card and contain all information the official printing does in an easy-to-identify fashion).
For the Magic players with more of an old-school bent, we’re also hosting another Old School Thursday this week! For the uninitiated, every first and third Thursday for $15 you get a cold beer, a hot slice of pizza, and the chance to party like it’s ’93 jam some Old School MTG!

The monthly series continues, the TGP Classic, a high-power high-stakes CEDH battle to the bitter end with the winner taking home a Dual Land. No fakes, no gimmicks, fully proxy. Bring your best, and come prepared to go up against some of the Triangles most formidable CEDH players.
Saturday, August 9: MTG Legacy Cash Tournament
Spotlighting the Legacy format, this cash-payout MTG tournament has a buy-in of $30 to contribute to the prize pool, allows for 15 proxies in any given deck (proxies must be clearly representative of the intended card and contain all information the official printing does in an easy-to-identify fashion).
Sunday, August 16 + Sunday, August 17: One Piece OP-12 Prerelease
The bond between master and student, Sanji and Zeff reflected in brand-new cards, six Leaders and new effects, a focus on attribute-driven decks and promising “a twist on traditional gameplay” — OP-12 is about to be on one, and TGP is the place to play your prerelease!

Saturday, August 23: Flesh and Blood Living Legend Skirmish
One of the unique aspects of FAB is the Living Legend system, where successful cards are retired, and leave the meta to join a hall of heroes and rest in TCG power eternal. However, sometimes those ascended heroes are brought back out to fight again: and the Living Legend format is exactly that: a chance to dust off the heroes of old and bring them new glory in an event allowing them to reach their full power and potential!
Saturday, August 23: MTG Standard RCQ
Competitive Magic: The Gathering continues in 2025 with a Constructed Standard RCQ!
$30 entry, entry back in the prize pool — so, the more players competing, the greater the rewards! This is a one-slot RCQ, so bring the best you’ve got!
Saturday, August 24: Commander League: Summer Session — Tournament III, The Finale
One last job, one last tournament, one last chance to leave it all on the table and claim your title as Summer League champion. Everyone’s going into Commander League: Season X a winner — but only the best of the best can claim the title of Champion. See you there, League players!
Saturday, August 30: BIDDIE’S NIGHT BINGO II: THE REAWAKENING
We had so much fun playing BINGO that we’re running it back! Biddie’s Night is returning this August for another night of numbers, letter, prizes and old-fashioned fun!
