About Us

Founded in 2022, The Gathering Place is proud to be our neighborhood’s home for casual drinks, TCGs, tabletop adventures, board game nights and everything in-between.

We’ve got thirty taps behind the bar, stocked with both North Carolina’s finest and some more far-flung offerings. We put effort into curating our list of hand-picked list of beer, wine, mead, sake, cider and seltzer. Non-alcoholic options on tap and in the cooler, snacks behind the bar we’ll even pull you a shot of espresso and whip up a latte, if you’d like.

On shelves and in the showcase, you’ll find a fine selection of staples, chase cards, grails and whatever else you’re looking for. If you don’t see it in the case, online or in the inventory listed at our in-store kiosk, let us know what you’re looking for and we’d be happy to help you find it. Honestly, chances are it’s already downstairs in the Card Dungeon.

The Gathering Place doesn’t charge table fees, so feel free to check out our huge wall of free-to-play board games or bring your own. Check out our events calendar to see what’s going on any given day, and get in touch with any questions.

Outside Food and Drink at The Gathering Place

In the interest of being good stewards of our space and the community we wish to foster, provide and maintain, The Gathering Place does not allow outside food and drink from anywhere other than local business and restaurants. We’ve had ongoing issues with trash and messes left behind from outside food and drinks, and this is officially the compromise. We want to encourage supporting local businesses, and you want to bring lunch and / or dinner by the shop. So, to that end, buy local!

We’d rather see spots like Med Deli, TRU, Cosmic Cantina, Momo’s Master or Buns succeed in our neighborhood than Raising Cane’s or McDonald’s – and, genuinely, we think you want that too. If you have any questions about what is, and is not, allowed, just ask. This is a friendlier policy than it might sound to some folks who might think we’re drawing up a spreadsheet of what is and is not allowed on TGP’s hallowed grounds. Just be mindful about it and – for all of us – please, clean up after yourself.

Parking at The Gathering Place

To protect what little real estate we have on-site, there is no parking permitted on the side wall next to the building, no blocking people in, no parking your car in the lot and walking away. The tow company TGP has a contract with is currently an on-demand service, something we call when we have an issue. That will never change, we’re not going to allow any towing company to run roughshod in our parking lot. But, with that in mind, know that we have cameras outside the building and we keep an eye on who’s in the lot during and outside of regular business hours.

Our lot is for patrons and staff of The Gathering Place and Alpha Pie, and it’s free for the purpose of coming to TGP/AP.

You can find all the parking details at the newly-minted TGP parking guide.
